Introduction:
Simon started Simon Taylor Decorators Ltd in 2000 after he spent many years working in and around Exeter and East Devon as a sub-contractor.  Simon noticed how few decorators were equipped to work to a high standard, cleanly and efficiently in domestic environments and on new build properties.  Most tradesmen he encountered not only lacked the necessary training and hand skills required to work to a high standard, but also seemed to have little or no attention to detail to the finer points, such as keeping fittings and furnishings clean, ensuring surfaces were sanded down to a smooth finish and generally overseeing the little things that make all the difference in ensuring a high quality finish.

How we are different:
What we do is to equip ourselves with everything we need to execute high-class work on all of the projects we work on.  We aim to be punctual, fast, friendly, efficient and everything you would hope to find in a professional painting and decorating firm.  We pride ourselves on treating customers and their property and possessions how we would like to be treated if we were the customers and we always leave a finished room in a clean and tidy state.

We offer a full range of service including internal and external decoration, paper-hanging, Duette, Artexing, coving, floor sanding and staining / varnishing and minor building work and alterations. 

Insurance Work. We are also specialists in insurance work, in both fire and water damage claims, offering a complete service from start to finish, from pulling down damaged ceilings, re-boarding, plastering / artexing and of course, re-decorating afterwards. We have worked for the following insurance companies - Alliance and Leicester, Aviva, Royal Sun Alliance and Home Claim Repair.

We are fully insured, have a CSCS Health & Safety certificate, are members of the Painting and Decorating Association, the government backed TrustMark Scheme, as well as now part of the Dulux Select Decorators scheme, which ensures that our work carries a 2 year guarantee as standard.  We can provide references (see Testimonials) and can provide many before and after photographs of previous notable projects we have worked on (see Portfolio) which include Reiss clothes shop, Strada and Wagamama’s Restaurant in the prestigious Princesshay development, Exeter Sausage and grill restaurant in Queen Street, Connaught House, Caroline Charles clothes shop (Roman Walk nr Princesshay), Gemstone (Catherine Street next to the Ship Inn pub), Clyst Vale Community College (canteen) and countless high end private contracts, in addition to all of our insurance work which we carry out all the time.

We use a full range of paints and wallpapers including Crown, Dulux, Laura Ashley, Farrow & Ball, Fired Earth to name a few.  We can also cater for the environmentally friendly customer by using water borne paints such as Earthborne which uses natural ingredients and, where possible, sustainable sources.
